The best place on earth!

Well, it's been a while but, I thought I'd better check in a let ya'll know that I'm still alive and enjoying one of the best summers I've had in a very long time!  Shortly after school was out I packed the wagon (I mean Suburban) to the brim, with my two kids and two of their friends, the dog who chose to take up residency in the front seat for fear of being left behind, and what we thought would be essential for a whole summer on the ranch!  Paradise!

The beginning of the trip started off a little rough with stormy weather through Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and even in to Arkansas.  I thought the rain would never stop but as we crossed into Texas the sun was shinning and we've seen no sign of rain since!

We've been swimming at every opportunity, visited family and friends, and are enjoying being back at our favorite place on earth!  We've done our traditional hermitage to the Alamo, the Buckhorn Hall of Horns, and the Riverwalk and spent a long but awesome day at Sea World - San Antonio where among all the Sea World sights, we also conquered the terrifying Steel Eel (roller coaster)!  We've fed the deer, killed some of the deadly Fire Ants, and practiced/competed in target practice with the bow and arrow and slingshot.  I worked on some projects around the ranch and still have a long list left to go but, mostly we are spending A LOT of quality time together...READ, we needed some interaction with civilization today so we've been to the pool and are now taking advantage of the WiFi at Dairy Queen in town.  I love small town life in the summer!

We reviewed our "bucket list" for the summer and will be making the drive to Austin next week.  We've got to see the Texas History Museum, the State Capitol, and the bats fly out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge.  We've got about two more weeks to keep working on our ranch improvement list, enjoying the sunshine morning, noon , and night and hanging out on the porch.  I don't believe it can get any better than this!

I hope all of you are doing well.  Please be patient and I promise to hit the furniture road hot and heavy when I get back home.

SUCCESS...a quarter each scored a stuffed animal out of the claw machine and the exclamation that this is the best summer ever!
