This Hoosier will be fantastic when done. The flour bin and roll top are in place and an enamel top with blue trim will replace the current mess of a top! Going to be....awesome! |

Pub Table.....or for Tea!
Good Monday Morning, Blogland!!
We are officially in Firehouse Antiques as of last Friday!!! Woop-woop! However, we have SO much more space, the booth looked naked when we left. We made a very quick trip Saturday morning to take a few more items and move some of the stuff from the other booth...okay, it looked a little better. I worked furiously on some projects yesterday and will be making another trip this morning. I promise pictures of the after will be posted this afternoon after this load!! It is looking pretty stinkin' cute and I am very excited about the days ahead!
With all that being said, this will be a quick post so that I can get loading and on the road.
A good while back, I bought two "pub" tables at the auction. It was late into the night and for some odd reason (they were looking a little the worse for wear!), no one else bid on them! Last week I decided I'd better get one of them done for the new space and started working on it.
Before:
It needed a little wood putty, some sanding, and to be restained. Because of the wood putty on the top, I didn't have many options except to paint that portion but, I really liked the stained legs so, I painted the inset square and stained the rest to match the legs. Then I painted the rings on the legs to match the top. Finally, I glazed it all and added a couple quick coats of polycrylic. I love it!
After:
About those chairs.....
Most of you know I have a serious weakness for chairs and when they started bringing those out at the last auction, I just couldn't help myself. I ended up with more than I really need but come on, are they not the cutest?! And they were all very sturdy! I thought a little seat cover with a ruffle mights help add a little color and tie in with the cream on the table. Lovin' it!
Have a great day! More pictures to post later!! :)

These pictures were taken in the booth and the coloring is awful!
Sorry! Hopefully you can get the idea!

Projects, projects, and a MOVE!!
My kitchen is covered in projects! My kids are eating breakfast between the cans of paint, the upholstery stuffing, and the chairs turned upside down. I keep telling myself it will just build their little characters and I'm sure provide a few good stories in the future about their "difficult" childhood and their crazy mother! Oh well, it's all for a good cause.....the Artichoke Alley booth will be moving to a larger location and we need more stuff!!!
Did you catch that? We are moving our booth tomorrow (aaargh!) and with the new location, we have more room for more stuff!! We made our decision last Sunday and it's been a whirlwind ever since. Thus...no new blogs; sorry!
I will be posting all my finished projects, our new location, and pictures of our new booth as soon as we get it all done. In the meantime, please hang in there with us or better yet, go to our old booth (Packards Antiques - Huntsville, Al) and buy some our stuff there so we don't have to move it! :)
Here are a few pictures of what's still there!

Oh, Miss Mustard Seed
Last week I posted pictures of a lovely chair I was working and thought I could finish right up. The chair itself did not need much work but unfortunately, I underestimated the difficulty of the sewing portion!
Here is the before.....
When I found this beauty she was painted an antique speckled gold. She was probably very grand in her day but now, the paint chipping off, she was filthy, and and although the bottom cushion was in great shape there was no cushion for the seat. No problem, right?!
Here she is after my first attempt with the cushion....
And the now.....
I am NOT a seamstress (or a photographer either) but, I am pretty happy with how she looking these days! I still think it needs a little throw pillow for some extra texture but, I plan on working with other power tools today and giving my little sewing machine a much deserved break!!
Have a great day! And thanks again Marian for the boost of confidence!

A little sad and flat looking! Oh, and bumpy, lumpy, and just not right! Aaargh!
For those of you that follow Miss Mustard Seed, I kept thinking about her recent post on glazing. Basically she said that it always looks really bad at some point and you just have to keep moving and know it will look better in the end. I believe that's true with sewing and upholstery too....at least that's what I kept telling myself!
I went back to the sewing machine and tried again. And again! lthough I KNOW I am not a seamstress or upholsterer at heart, I am pretty happy with how far this little beauty has come. What do you think?
I picked a shimmery paint to give it a little sparkle but went with a very tradition creamy fabric that I picked up off the Hancock's clearance rack last year for just pennies! I think this chair has the potential to be SO classy but needed a little kick of fun too!

Burlap Beauties
While at Hobby Lobby recently I found this roll of burlap that was on super duper clearance....in the cart it went. Then I found a little tiny footstool and a burlap lampshade (for less than the cost of a cup of coffee)!
Yesterday, Meg and I ran into a couple of thrift stores just for a quick break out of the house. I didn't find anything spectacular but, I did come home with a heavy old brass lamp. I was so excited to get my lampshade done that I forgot to take be fore pics but, you have all seen a million lamps just like this one. Until now!!!
Looky, looky! My burlap beauties:
I think they are absolutely too cute for words!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Loving purple!
A while back one of my friends e-mailed and asked if I could fix a chair for her. No problem! (I posted about it here.)
So while I was there, she pulled another chair from her garage and asked if I would please just take it. For those of you that don't know me very well, my husband says the reason I got into this business was because I needed to have a reason to buy more chairs. Anyway, I couldn't turn it down....although it did need a lot of love.
The chair was given to my friend when she went off to start college. I don't want to say too much but, we are about the same age and college was about 2 decades ago, give or take. This chair was a hand me down (that had seen better days) back then, and life for this little spot hadn't gotten much better.
I was working on a desk (here) and I decided it should probably have a chair sitting with it. Lara's chair was the perfect size but......it was going to take some work. I sanded, glued, screwed, sanded some more and then started painting.
I found this fabric on the clearance rack at Hancock's and I loved it but when I got it home, I wasn't loving it in gray soooo, the chair became white and... I love it! Not sure they really belong together but, they are both pretty stinkin' cute if you ask me!
