Time for Reflection

Artichoke Alley is a business adventure of three women who happened to have some things in common; kids in the same pre-school, careers before children (where people thought we were talented), and the desire to create beautiful things.  These commonalities are what got us started but, since then we have learned so much more about each other.  I won't go into all the beautiful, ugly, or amazing details but, one of the things that we have in common is that we have each also lost someone very special to cancer.   


This past weekend, on January 14th, we lost a great man who was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as a supporter, mentor, and generally all around good sport.     These past few days have been a time for reflection, sorrow, and joy.   I knew him briefly and only after he was already sick however, he made me feel completely at ease on each and every visit.  I loved that even though his daughter was a grown woman with a family of her own, he was still interested in her plans, her future, her fun!  Charles will be greatly missed by all.......


This morning I shook hands with a woman who needed twin girl beds in preparation for an upcoming adoption and this afternoon I hugged my dear friend as she said goodbye to one of the most important men in her life.  What a day of reminders to be thankful for our blessings and LOVE as well and strongly as possible each and every day.
