Pretty in Pink - Waterfall desk/vanity

This beautiful waterfall dresser is finally finished!  With snow days and a few other minor setbacks, she is now ready to go and dressed out for fun.
Last week I went looking for some fun Ooops! paints to add a little color to my choices.   I was lucky enough to hit a jackpot came home with 4 gallons of Spring!  This waterfall dresser just really seemed to need a something fun and fantastic so, the new red raspberry paint seemed like just the ticket.  Once I started painting, I would say the color is really somewhere between red raspberry and hot pink (not for everyone but stunning, none the less).  When the paint dried, she still needed a little something something so, I glazed her all over with a black and iridescent glaze.  The glaze stayed in all the cracks and crevices to really show off her lines and give her a little silvery luster.  The sides of the drawers are painted white to compliment the fantastic silk and velvet zebra striped fabric that line the drawers.
The old hardware was so vintage and cute but a weird bronzy gold so I sprayed them with silver and then used the same glaze from the vanity to age them a little and tone down the shiny silver.

I'm usually not much of an animal print kind of girl but, this zebra stripe just did something for me on this one and I thought a coordinating chair would be perfect!  I searched high and low (because it's all stacked like a Tetris game) in the garage and found this cute lyre back chair.  A quick coat of black paint, some iridescent glaze, and a whole new seat and she is just cuter than cute!

Aagh!  Can't find the before of the chair...so sorry!  Although she was sturdy, the seat was nasty and the rest was just very well worn.

And as they debut together...

It's gorgeous here so I'm hoping to paint outside some before.... date night tonight with my all time favorite guy!

Have a great Sunday!

  11. Sivette -
I was unable to respond to your profile however, it is a glaze from Lowe's that comes in a plastic jug. I have used it staright out of the jug, mixed with paint, and mixed with stain depending on what look I am going for. On this particular piece, I applied it full strength over the paint. Thank you!
