Navy & blue are two colors that just always say boy to me. Not that they can't be girly but, add a few stripes and I have flashbacks of buying little boy shirts for the first oh, 5 years of my son's life!
After sanding and priming of course, I started by painting the whole thing navy. My husband and son thought it looked great but, something just wasn't quite doing it for me. So, I taped off where I thought the stripes should go and then painted two coats of gray over the top. I pulled off the taped, touched up the lines and loved it!
Then it was time to figure out something for the knobs. It had great wooden knobs but, of course, one was missing! I had a spare knob that was just the right size but they needed a little paint to transform them. I saw some knobs at Hobby Lobby that had a compass rose but where too large and white but served as great inspiration. I spray primed them and them painted them gray. I got the smallest brush I could find and used the navy to paint the outline of the compass and then went back and filled in the gray to shade it. Then I clear coated them with a spray craft sealer. I was seriously having my doubts until my Cowboy walked by and said, "Hey cool! What are these for? They're pretty cool." I think that's a good sign so I was even more thrilled when I found a nautical themed fabric that is red, blue, gray & white to line all the drawers with.
So, what do you think?

It's so rainy and dreary outside I had to take the after pics in the kitchen. Not the best for lighting or the reflection in the mirror so please ignore all that! :)
Have a great Thursday!
